Outlander Highlands Tour
Relive Jamie and Claire’s adventures and visit some of the sites throughout the Scottish Highlands connected to or featured in the smash International book and TV series, Diana Gabaldon’s "Outlander". Enjoy travelling through the Fraser lands on a full day tour in the comfort of an 8-seater vehicle.
Imagine being part of Jamie and Claire’s clan, and visit the real “Lallybroch” to explore some of the lands that were held by the Frasers of Lovat (Jamie’s clan in the Outlander franchise), and the powerful Mackenzie family on our fantastic Outlander Highlands Tour.
Are you ready...?
“Je suis prest”, the motto of the Clan Fraser of Lovat means “I am ready”, so are you ready to come on one of our day tours to visit the astonishing and atmospheric Wardlaw Mausoleum, the historic burial place of the clan chiefs of the Frasers of Lovat and where it is alleged that Simon “The Fox” Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat (and Jamie’s grandfather in the Outlander franchise) is interred?
Are you ready to explore on this day trip the mysterious and ancient prehistoric stone circles and burial cairns at Clava, and imagine stepping through the split stone and travelling back in time to 1743? Are you ready to become immersed in the emotive air that Culloden Battlefield provides, and visit the Clan Fraser grave marker; just one of a number of memorials to the Clans that fell during the battle in April 1746?
Are you ready to admire the breath-taking native landscape of Tulloch Ghru, an area of natural Caledonian Forest with stunning views towards the Cairngorm Mountain Range, and where scenes for the first TV series were filmed? Are you ready to truly step back in time at the fantastic Highland Folk Museum, where there is an extremely impressive and authentic reconstruction of an 18th century village? The Museum’s reconstruction is so authentic that it was also used as the set location for filming the first season of the Outlander TV series – two Outlander locations in one day!
Finally, are you ready to visit the imposing ruins of Ruthven Barracks, where Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlies) sent word to the Jacobite support that had congregated there in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Culloden that the uprising was over, and that every man should “seek his own safety in the best way he can”? These atmospheric and formidable ruins demonstrates just how dank and despairing the 18th century military barracks were, as Jamie found out first hand during his imprisonment in Fort William!
If you are ready, book now to avoid disappointment, because this is an incredibly popular tour, and unmissable for the Outlander fan!
