Discover the Loch Ness Monster...
Loch Ness & Nessie
The highlight, of course, is a visit to the world famous Loch Ness, known for its outstanding natural beauty and Loch Ness Monster sightings. A place full of mystery, where you may just catch a glimpse of one of Scotland's most famous residents – Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster!
Find out some amazing Loch Ness facts and marvel at the views of the once mighty medieval stronghold, Urquhart Castle, a testament to the power of Clan Chiefs and Scottish Kings, that now stands as a majestic ruin on the banks of the Loch.
Next, the stunning Black Isle...
Your highland tour then travels through the Black Isle – A peninsula in the Highlands of Scotland. The Black Isle is filled with wildlife and woodland and is the perfect place to take in the views of the rolling green hills and rich arable land filled with fields of barley so indicative of the east coast of Scotland.
Glen Ord Distillery
We will then continue on to Black Isle’s famous Glen Ord Distillery, a distillery with almost 200 years of history and of course have a sampling of some fine single malt whisky. Glen Ord Distillery is currently the only distillery in the Black Isle and still use locally grown barley to produce the uisge beatha (meaning “water of life” in the Gaelic - whisky).
Beauly & Beauly Priory
We'll visit burgh of Beauly, from the French "beau leau", meaning "beautiful place", and the name is not wrong! Enjoy a stroll through the stunning ancient ruins of Beauly Priory, or visit some of the wonderful local cafes (including an award-winning deli) and shops that this medieval burgh has to offer. Who knows, perhaps there may be a Highland Cow or two to stop and say hello to?
On to the Battle of Culloden...
Visit the emotive and compelling Culloden Battlefield, and hear the chilling story of the conclusion of the Jacobite cause on the site where the last pitched battle fought on the British mainland took place. Through the preserved battlefield and the modern Visitor Centre, you will learn the amazing history of the Highland Clans and the Battle of Culloden.
After learning all about the Jacobites, we take you even further back in time into prehistory and explore the ancient and atmospheric monuments at Clava Cairns standing stones. Seen recently on the TV show Outlander.
The North East Highlands of Scotland is rich in folklore, myth, legends and history, which we would love to share with you along the way, so let us help you shape your adventures, create your memories and experience our culture first hand with one of our fun and educational tours.
