Private Tours of Scotland: Fairytale Castles & Fiery Drams

Immerse yourself in the Highlands' history & heritage

Embark on an unforgettable journey through some of the Highland’s most breathtaking scenery and culturally rich destinations. Our Dunrobin Castle and Glenmorangie Distillery tour offers a unique blend of history, nature, and, of course, world-class whisky. Buckle up and join us for a day filled with exploration and adventure.

Dunrobin Castle: A fairytale fortress

Our first stop is the magnificent Dunrobin Castle, a true gem of the Scottish Highlands.

This stately home – not to be mistaken with a luxurious French château – is one of Britain’s oldest continuously inhabited houses dating back to the early 1300s and home to the Earls and Dukes of Sutherland.

With its towering conical spires and grand architecture, Dunrobin Castle looks like it has been plucked straight out of a fairy tale, and as you wander through its beautifully decorated rooms, you’ll be transported back in time, marvelling at the rich tapestry of history that fills every nook and cranny to be seen.

However, one of the greatest highlights of Dunrobin Castle is its meticulously maintained gardens. Styled after the Palace of Versailles, why not take a stroll through the carefully manicured lawns and flower beds, whilst taking in the stunning views of the North Sea.

And let’s not forget Dunrobin’s daily Falconry Displays (from April 1 to October 31) where you can witness these majestic birds in action – a real treat for visitors big and small!

A scenic drive along Loch Fleet

Leaving Dunrobin Castle, we’ll journey along the picturesque shores of Loch Fleet

This stunning sea loch is a haven for wildlife, and if you’re lucky, you might be able to spot seals basking on the sandbanks or wild ospreys diving for some fish.

This spectacular route also provides ample opportunities to capture the natural beauty of the Highlands – no matter the time of year – so keep your camera ready!

A leisurely lunch in Dornoch

Next, we’ll arrive at the charming hamlet of Dornoch. This quaint coastal village is steeped in history and offers a variety of unique shops and cosy cafes for you to explore and enjoy.

Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty Scottish meal or a light snack, Dornoch’s dining options cater to all tastes.

After lunch, we recommend taking some time to explore the historic Dornoch Cathedral. Founded in the 13th century, it boasts beautiful stained glass windows and intricate stonework – its serene atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for reflection and admiration of mediaeval architecture.

Interior of The Glenmorangie Distillery featuring large copper stills and a windowed back wall. The distillery name, established 1843, is prominently displayed on the back wall. Experience all this and more on an unforgettable Glenmorangie Distillery Tour.

Glenmorangie Distillery: A whisky lover’s paradise

Our final stop is the renowned Glenmorangie Distillery, where you’ll dive into the world of whisky.

Known for its exceptional single malt Scotch whisky, Glenmorangie offers fantastic tours that delve into the art of whisky making. While there you can learn about the distillation process, the history of the distillery, and, of course,  enjoy a tasting session where you can savour the rich flavours of their exquisite malt.
