Join us on this unique tour, combining visits to a whisky distillery, gin distillery and beer brewery while travelling through the stunningly beautiful Cairngorm National Park.
Our Cairngorm Whisky, Gin and Beer tour takes our guests over the Slochd summit into the Strathspey and Badenoch region of the Highlands of Scotland. We’ll take tours and tastings at Kinrara Gin Distillery, Cairngorm Brewery and Tomatin Distillery while enjoying the fabulous vistas around the Cairngorm mountains (meaning “blue cairns”).
Sit back and relax as one of our fantastic guides becomes the “designated driver” and takes you on a journey of tastes and tales, all from the comfort of our 8-seater vehicle.
Our luxurious 8-people minibus: perfect for enjoying great panoramic views of the Scottish countryside.
We start the day with a tour and tasting at Tomatin Distillery, which has been producing malt whisky since 1897. Having been named one of the “best in travel” destinations by Lonely Planet (2019), we’re sure you will enjoy your experience, and of course the soft, mellow notes of this wonderful Highland single malt.
Next stop on our itinerary is a tour and tasting at Kinara Gin Distillery. Operating since 2017, this wee micro distillery has been going from strength to strength. Situated in the 12,000 acres of the Cairngorm National Park, nature has provided a wonderful selection of local fauna and berries, which are foraged by the small and passionate highland team. These are infused with carefully sourced botanicals to create Kinrara’s range of unique and flavoursome dry gins. Everything from the foraging to the bottling is meticulously done by hand, to create this small batch spirit.
After a break for lunch in Aviemore we will travel up into the Cairngorm Mountains to take in the fabulous vistas. As we ascend the mountain we might come across some reindeer – the only herd in the UK. Then we’ll descend to Loch Morlich and gaze back across to the beautiful Cairngorm Mountain Range.
Established in 2001, the Cairngorm Brewery now has the capacity to produce around 6500ltrs (11,439 pints) of the finest of ale per day! The beer continues to win awards and accolades- the “Black Gold” Traditional Scottish Stout winning Scotland’s “Champion Beer of the Year” 2016 and 2017. This is a testament to the small and proud team, dedicated to producing a variety of premium quality ales, using the clear natural waters from the Cairngorm mountains and the freshest of local, highland ingredients. We’re sure you’ll enjoy the character of this local micro-brewery on your tour and enjoy tasting the wares even more!
This is a tour with a difference. Beyond the tours that will explain the different processes and production methods used to create three different products – whisky, gin, and beer, this is also a unique opportunity to gain insight into these small local businesses, and indeed into highland life itself. All of this takes place in some of the most beautiful landscape in Scotland, abundant with the freshest and finest ingredients sourced and used by these local producers. Which brings us to the best part of the tour, sampling these world class products for yourself. Slainte!
