Shape your own memories and create your own story on our amazing and exciting Outlander Locations Tour.

Spend two days with us exploring some of the actual places used in the filming of this fantastic Internationally acclaimed TV series. Take inspiration from Jamie and Claire’s story and then create your own Outlander adventure.

Natural authenticity…

Visit some of the beautiful scenic countryside that was specially selected for filming because of itsauthentic appearance. Admire the views across the Cairngorm Mountain Range at the stunning Tulloch Ghru; an area of natural Caledonian forest that lends itself well to an 18th century backdrop (and where Claire first encounters the notorious “Black Jack”), and then go off the beaten track to experience the unspoiled solitude of Kinloch Rannoch, where the TV series makers created the mystical stone circle of Craigh Na Dun where Claire was transported back in time to 1743.

See the locations

Next, try and spot where the different scenes were filmed at the wonderfully preserved medieval stronghold of Doune Castle, used for the location of Castle Leoch. Then travel on to the beautifully quaint town of Falkland, which guises as Inverness in the series and where Frank encounters what is thought to be the ghost of Jamie at the Bruce Fountain. Wander around the austere yet stunning Aberdour Castle, which doubles as the monastery where Jamie convalesces after his rescue from Wentworth Prison.

Travel back in time…

Travel back in time and visit some of the period locations, such as the Highland Folk Museum, where the reconstructed 18th century village was a perfect choice for the Mackenzie village (where Dougal collects the rents) and the absolutely stunning and uniquely preserved 17th/18th century Culross, ideal for the transformation into the village of Cranesmuir. Stand outside Geillis Duncan’s house, see where Jamie and Claire rescued the young boy whose ear was nailed to the stocks, and finally the pièce de résistance; walk around Claire’s herb garden at Culross Palace. And, of course, take in the breath-taking views as you travel through the stunning Scottish scenery. For the Outlander fan, this is an absolute must!
